Antonio Meucci, Sang Penemu Telepon Sesungguhnya.

Sepuluh tahun antara akhir abad ke-19 dan permulaan abad ke-20 ditandai dengan penemuan-penemuan ilmiah yang sangat penting. Para ilmuwan harus melindungi penemuan mereka dari resiko dibajak. Jika Marconi dapat mematenkan penemuannya, Antonio Meucci, tidak mampu mengeluarkan biaya untuk mematenkan penemuannya yaitu TELEPON. Persengketaan hukum antara Meucci dan Alexander Graham Bell dalam waktu lama (1847-1992) yang menyatakan sebagain penemu, berakhir pada 1885 dengan dimenangkan oleh Bell. Barulah pada 16 Juni 2002, sebuah perdebatan mengenai seluruh kasus tersebut terjadi di Kongres Amerika, dengan hasil bahwa Meucci diberikan apa yang menjadi keinginannya, yakni diakui sebagai penemu telepon. Akan tetapi, Kompensasi ini terlalu kecil baginya, karena penemu Italia ini telah meninggal dalam keadaan miskin, dan ia harus mengeluarkan uang sen terakhirnya untuk membuktikan kebenaran.
